12 Day Safari

DAY 1 – Arrivals
Our guides will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you to a hotel in Arusha.

DAY 2 & 3 – Tarangire National Park
Tarangire is very famous for its elephant populations and baobab trees. You will be accompanied by our elephant researcher,  Donatus Gadiye, to get more insight on elephant conservation in Tanzania. The second day will be a full-day game drive in Tarangire, focusing more extensively on elephants and also observing other animals, including some of the park’s over 540 species of birds.

DAY 4 and 5 – Lake Eyasi Cultural Tours
Visit the Hadzabe tribe (Tanzania’s last hunter-gatherers). Follow them on a hunting and gathering outing, join in a traditional dance with them, and test your accuracy shooting a bow and arrow. Thereafter, visit two clans of the Datoga tribe, the pastoralists and the blacksmiths. Finalize your tour with a hike to the shore of Lake Eyasi and its stunningly beautiful scenery.

DAY 6 & 7 – Ngorongoro Crater & HIghlands
Drive to Tanzania’s Eighth Wonder of the World, the Ngorongoro Crater. Check in at your lodge and then head out for a late afternoon crater rim hike and sunset viewing. On the second day, enjoy a full-day game drive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor. This unique, large “bowl of nature” harbors almost every species of African plains mammal, including the endangered black rhino, and the densest population of predators in Africa.

DAY 8, 9 and 10 – Serengeti N.P. and/or Ndutu
The endless Serengeti Plains are dotted with rocky outcrops, called “kopjes”, that provide sensitive micro-habitats for many varieties of wildlife, like the Rock Hyrax. You will have a chance to see large and small cats (lions, leopards, cheetahs, serval cats, etc), and possibly witness the annual herd migration of over 2 million terrestrial mammals, like wildebeest and zebra. (Please note: the progress of the migration can be disturbed by changes in rainfall patterns, so there is no guarantee on what you will see). The second day in Serengeti N.P. will be a full-day game drive, during which you may see hippos, crocodiles, more cats, ostriches, hyenas, jackals, Marabou Storks, Marshall Eagles or elephants, to name just a few possible species.

DAY 11 – Karatu cultural tour
Daniel’s presentation.

DAY 12 – Karatu school visit or forest hike, Departure
