Gorilla Tracking Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival
Fly from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Kigali International airport in Rwanda. Upon arrival, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali.

Day 2 – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by our safari guide and begin your 4-5 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest N.P. in Uganda. Along the way you will make a stopover for lunch at Lake Bunyonyi town and then continue with the drive going through the scenic Kabale, also commonly referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Check into your hotel and use the afternoon for a guided rainforest hike or for relaxing at the lodging before dinner.

Day 3 – Gorilla Tracking
After an early breakfast, you will stop at the park headquarters and be briefed by park rangers about the gorilla-tracking guidelines.  A ranger will then guide you into the impenetrable forest, where you will begin looking for signs of the mountain gorillas. Based on gorilla movements on any given day, your tracking hike could take between 2 and 8 hours (including a trail lunch.) Along the way, your ranger will point out many indigenous plants and animals, including olive baboons, turacos, shoe-billed storks, or possibly even the rare l’Hoest’s monkey.  Upon finding your sought-after troupe of gorillas, you will be allowed to spend at most one hour observing them as they play, feed and care for each other. You will be permitted to take photographs and record videos during your observations. In certain lodging areas, there will be an optional evening village walk to visit the Batwa Pygmies, who will entertain you with traditional dances and songs.

Day 4 – Return to Rwanda
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali International airport and depending on your flight, you will be transferred to Kigali International airport in time for your flight back home or to your next destination.
